Four active recalls carry crash or injury consequence language Four active recalls (seat belt anchorage, retractor failure, suspension toe-link, airbag fastener) carry crash/injury language. Seat belt issues especially acute—affect occupant restraint. Cascading passive-safety exposure beyond OTA patches.
Three NHTSA complaints confirm propulsion loss pattern; no recall issued ODI 11590550 (highway power cut), 11721867 (repeat fault), 11657290 (ADAS + dropout). Three independent reporters, consistent propulsion loss across mileage bands. Meets ≥3-source concern threshold. No recall issued despite pattern.
JDP Consumer score 15 points above TrimIndex—divergence at threshold JDP Consumer Verified: 81/100 vs TrimIndex: 66/100. Gap driven by JDP's 95 driving-experience score inflating overall rating. TrimIndex weights open recalls and value erosion that satisfaction surveys miss. JDP-only reliance may underestimate safety exposure.
Steering shake (severity-4) and hub failure unresolved without recall ODI 11696910 (steering shake, severity-4, crash concern). ODI 11644877 (hub failure, low mileage). No recall triggered. Forum corroboration (rivianforums, rivianownersforums) confirms intermittent steering anomalies across owners. Build-quality community sentiment net negative.
Software & tech leads segment at 88/100; JDP driving-experience 95 Software & Tech (88/100) corroborated by JDP's 95 driving-experience rating. Positive owner sentiment on OTA cadence, infotainment, driver-assistance. Forum threads confirm meaningful post-purchase capability additions—durable differentiator vs ICE peers.
The 2024 Rivian R1T Performance Dual Large (21in) earns a 66/100 TrimIndex composite — adequate on paper but pulled lower by an unresolved safety recall cluster and a propulsion loss pattern that has not triggered a formal campaign. Four of six active recalls carry crash or injury consequence language, covering seat belts, suspension toe-links, and airbag fasteners. Three independent NHTSA complaints document sudden powertrain dropout at highway speed, meeting the concern threshold independently. Software and tech capability is the vehicle's clear strength at 88/100, corroborated by a 95 JDP driving-experience sub-score and a strong OTA update cadence. Prospective buyers should confirm all open recalls are remediated prior to delivery and read the 27% MSRP-to-market price gap as a depreciation signal rather than a straightforward value win.

"truck or the Model X, at least the Tesla didn't uh well, I wasn't really stranded, but at least I wasn't in a position to get towed. Uh but yes, Rivian took care of everything. Uh no cost to me except my time and an additional adventure and content to it's not a simple design, and that's not to say that simple design is bad, but I just feel that this has more character. Uh, but check out the seats. It looks really nice. It has the Rivian lettering right there. This is vegan leather and um, it has perforation because the front seats have ventilated as well as heated seats functionality. love about this also is it still has the manual door release or door unlock. Um I just prefer it. I I don't know. I just I just like it. Unfortunately, the Gen 2s have push buttons similar to Tesla. That's one thing I wish they would have kept, but I I don't know. Uh, apologies for some of the dust and stuff. I don't the factory or OEM floor mats. I do like them, but they're not as functional as the aftermarket ones, but I just like the way they look. Uh, the kids don't write here as often. Uh, this is primarily my vehicle, so I don't have to worry about each seat right here. And there is a couple down there as well. And there's also an outlet down there dogs to get their groom. So that's why I had it here. Uh but yeah, I mean I really like the interior. I don't know"
"the the Cybert truck's more comfortable or whatever." And I'm like, "But that's that's why I got it. That's why I drive it because it it feels like a truck except it's electric. I get all the benefits of it being electric. That's why that's why that is like one of the biggest reasons why I prefer to drive the Rivian over the comfortable, sure. Uh but it's not that this is not comfortable. it, but it drives like a truck. That is what I'm after from the R1T. I don't get that with the Cybert truck, and that's not a good thing, and that's not a bad thing. Um, so, so that's why there are two different trucks for me. And that is why like, man, I I love my Rivian. And Riven may not be as technologically advanced. I mean, this is just a an opinion of mine when you compare it to Tesla, but I think that's a that's that's a good thing. Um, it's a good characteristic to have, especially for people who are getting out of a gas car and getting into an EV for the first because the Rivian I think is a a good a good starter EV. Um because there's still a lot of um traditional same time it's bringing in that that EV technology, that modern technology um to you so that you don't all of a sudden like, huh? cuz cuz one of the things that I've noticed with other EVs is um why does it have a a off and on switch like a button, right? But you know, I I I guess it's good for those people who are transitioning that they"
"So, I don't know what happened there. Uh but I do have a lease video talking about all of the deals that I got with it. Uh the limestone color is an option that you have to pay for, but during the time I took delivery, I was able to get it uh for free and I love the limestone color. Uh my my first choice was Canyon Red. Uh but limestone just stood out for time of recording, we have driven 10,614.3 miles. And then you just subtract 49 miles because that's what 4,180 kwatt hours of energy. I will put up on the screen what that equivalent is cost just if you're wondering how much it would have cost for me to charge 4,180 kW hours. So, we're going to go over a list of the things that I like about this truck. And the first thing is the build quality. Um, compared to my Tesla, at least just picking on the The issues that I've had though as far as build quality is just this uh this trim right here. I have a couple of videos uh with Rivian service where I had to bring it in because this this was popping up, but as you can see now it is it's there. It's not uh not an issue anymore. I had to go back I think twice. Uh but that that's pretty much it as far as the build quality. And speaking of quality, there only has been like two big issues as far as um like recalls. Well, see that that's weird cuz they don't really call it a recall. They call it uh campaign, I guess. I I don't know. It's"
"#25· Jan 12, 2024 My Quad Adventure having 21" in snow mode is mind blowing. The tread looks like a hwy. tread. It is the AT OEM, the rubber must be soft at subfreezing. I did a blizzard up and down major grade zero slippage. The front tires had only 3/32" on them! This makes no sense to me, if I was not there, I would not think it is possible. #29· Jan 12, 2024 > kamster said: > > While it seems the 21" wheels give the best range it seems like they also have the worst options when it comes to replacement tires? Since I don't see rock climbing in my future is it worth swapping to the 22" wheels, loosing a small bit of range but gaining better options for replacements? > > Thoughts? > > > Click to expand... I love the 21's on my R1T, there will be alternatives available soon but I like the stock tires and will likely buy them as replacements since the tire warranty is longer than the one we got from Rivian."
"and we're just going to check this out let take this off auto oh yeah okay and so that is pretty cool there so was showing the uh height setting right here that wasn't there before and yeah so I like that that's a now let's check out these cameras wait a minute okay I got a a message here it says camera is not working service your vehicle very interesting okay let's hope that's not a real issue and let me check my yeah unfortunately and right here camera unavailable servers needed and unfortunately I just have a black spot right here that is not good that is pretty bad actually I don't have any cameras now prior to this update my camera's worked obviously now with the update I will do so I will say I like the the the font uh they made the turn signals bigger they're easier to see I really like that but I don't like the fact that it appears I don't have cameras so what I'm going to do right now I'm going to do a reset of the vehicle and so here I'm going to do a uh a soft reset and hopefully it's going to fix this and it's showing the front camera the the side mirror cameras and the rear camera that's not good okay so you I'mma see how long this takes yes this is unfortunate this is not just with these electric vehicles any vehicle with software this this can be an issue and yes while the over the a updates are Innovative then you also can see where"
"you can run into problems also and so hopefully this will fix it and I W have to take my vehicle in for service but uh we'll see I hope it fix it because who knows how long it it'll take to get a service appointment just because the camera's out and I really need my cameras to park uh where I where I work the tight the parking spaces are really tight and this just hard to uh navigate those oh boy so uh that was pretty quick and so it reset it so let's see if the cameras are working nope same mes cameras are not working service your vehicle so the next step I'm going to do is I'm going to do a hard reset and that's going to consist of me uh pushing this right here and also holding this outer button right here so I'm just going to go ahead and and do a hard reset and this is almost just like resetting your computer it says keep holding both buttons while vehicle's restarting soon okay now restarting is right now said 6% and we'll just see how long this takes yeah this is unfortunate and hoping this will fix it this is very disappointing but I know it's it's going to get corrected it' be nice to get corrected with some new cameras yeah g you can go ahead and give me some some new cameras with uh I guess you have to give me some brand new mirrors whatever it takes that would be nice with the higher resolution but I know that's not going to happen this is"
"Ventilated seats were amazing on the 800+ mile drive. It was a really hot day and the sun was beating throughout the drive, the ventilated seats felt so cold I thought my back was wet. But that’s where it ended for the ventilated seats, the day after I got home from the drive, the ventilated seats were maybe 5 percent of the power they used to have. I can no longer feel it on my back. The legs work maybe 20 percent. This is on max setting. I had to go to the service center for them to install the tonneau cover and I brought up the ventilated seat issue. The tech right away said yea I can’t feel it on the back. After checking the 2 demo vehicles and the loaner they gave me, there was no difference in the ventilated seats. They all felt like mine. I think this is a major issue Rivian needs to address. The service manager said they can warranty the seats out but I don’t think this issue has been addressed. If I get new seats I’ll end up with the same problem again. This is an issue owners will need to escalate in order for there to be a change. This issue is a great disappointment that it has not been addressed. The tech manager said he would escalate it and follow up with me, but I haven’t heard anything and doubt I will."
